Manhattan, NY — A 2024 Lamborghini Urus valued at approximately $285,000 was successfully recovered in Manhattan after being stolen from a Massachusetts dealership in an elaborate fraudulent transport scheme.
According to investigators, the theft occurred when a transport company used deceptive credentials to take possession of the luxury SUV. The dealership quickly recognized the fraud, reported the incident to law enforcement, and activated the vehicle’s LoJack® tracking system.
GPS Vehicle Recovery Begins with Real-Time Tracking
Once activated, the LoJack LE App began transmitting real-time GPS data as the Lamborghini traveled across state lines. Meanwhile, the LoJack Liaison Team coordinated with agencies across the New York metropolitan area. As a result, law enforcement maintained seamless communication as the vehicle approached the city.
Investigators tracked the Urus into New York City, where the New York City Police Department initiated a roving surveillance operation using live LoJack location updates. Subsequently, officers conducted a safe traffic stop in Manhattan and recovered the vehicle without incident.
Officers took three suspects into custody and recovered the Lamborghini undamaged.
Furthermore, law enforcement officials noted that the case highlights the increasing sophistication of organized vehicle theft and transport fraud, as well as the critical role of real-time intelligence in countering it. LoJack’s powerful tracking capabilities and nationwide law enforcement network enabled the rapid recovery.
The investigation remains ongoing.
