Newark, NJ — A 2021 BMW X4 stolen from a dealership lot was swiftly recovered in Newark thanks to its LoJack® GPS system and the coordinated response of the New Jersey State Police Auto Theft Task Force (ATTF), resulting in three arrests.
GPS Stolen Vehicle Recovery Begins After Dealership Theft
The theft occurred after employees at Adams Auto Group briefly left the BMW running while moving vehicles on the property. Although no keys were inside the SUV, a suspect entered the running vehicle and drove it off the lot. The dealership immediately contacted local police to report the theft.
Because LoJack protected the BMW with GPS tracking technology, the dealership quickly contacted the LoJack Customer Service Center to activate the system. Having experienced previous thefts, the owner contacted the LoJack Law Enforcement Liaison Team, which quickly alerted the New Jersey State Police ATTF. Detectives began tracking the vehicle’s movements through the LoJack GPS Tracking Application provided to them by LoJack.
Real-time updates led investigators to a rear yard in Newark, where they found the stolen BMW still running with its lights on. ATTF personnel established surveillance on the location and soon observed the SUV leaving the yard with three occupants inside.
Officers moved in and safely apprehended all three individuals.
Officers recovered the 2021 BMW X4 without damage, concluding a rapid multi-agency response supported by LoJack technology.
