Harris County, TX – A 2021 Chevrolet Silverado, stolen from its owner and valued at approximately $40,000, was successfully recovered thanks to LoJack technology and the rapid, coordinated efforts of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Auto Theft Unit.
The theft was first reported to HCSO, where deputies immediately entered the vehicle into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC), enabling nationwide law enforcement visibility. The owner also contacted the LoJack Call Center, activating the truck’s LoJack® Stolen Vehicle Recovery technology.
Using real-time tracking data transmitted through the LoJack Law Enforcement Application (LE App), HCSO Auto Theft Detectives traced the Silverado to a residential property. Upon arrival, detectives observed an enclosed garage at the rear of the home and began surveillance. Marked patrol units were then dispatched to assist with a knock-and-talk investigation.
Detectives made contact with the homeowner, who stated her daughter and the daughter’s boyfriend had recently purchased a vehicle stored in the garage. The daughter informed detectives that her boyfriend was currently inside working on that vehicle. After obtaining consent to search the property, detectives entered the garage—only to find the boyfriend hiding beneath the stolen Silverado.
The truck was discovered in the process of being stripped and dismantled. Detectives conducted interviews with both individuals, and auto theft–related charges will be filed in connection with the case. Thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of HCSO and LoJack technology, the stolen Silverado was safely recovered and will be returned to its rightful owner.
